Story For The Day
“It’s all he had ever known, simply speaking. The painless monotony of everyday life without a single challenge or struggle. Is the easy way the right way? He didn’t know but that was what he was used to. That’s the way it had to always be. Right?
Wake up and make some coffee, smelling the fresh grounds brew as the fragrance fumed the air with an awakening spirit. Go out into the yard and water the plants only to finish up and sit on the deck with the hot warm sip of coffee. Never really having to fight for a stance the man who everyone knew as the guy who collected every antique in sight.
Greg inherited money when he was just a small child. No one really knows how much he had gotten but what we do know is that he had to never work a day in his life. Never leaving his home with the ease of buying anything he had ever wanted. A simple man leading a simple life.
The only thing was is that Greg was never seen smiling and it was a wonder to everyone why he never had. With all of that money and the ability to do nothing, life must be easy and joyful. What they didn’t know is that Greg had no idea what it truly meant to live in a world where he could do what he wanted. He was stuck in a cycle of never being challenged to think for himself.
Life was such a minimal task that he had lived on repeat without anything in mind of what to do next.

Is The Easy Way The Right Way?
Hear me out, I’m a firm believer in doing things the right way. I’m also sure that if you’ve found a way that will make a task easier then you should stick to it. But a life without challenge? What is it worth living if you can not explore the many grounds that are unexplored. Is the easy way the right way to live? I’m not sure I can say I would enjoy it myself.
We must all struggle from time to time to truly appreciate what we have right in front of us. Without a single challenge to confront it almost seems life would slowly slip away. To always have a sharp edge and the ability to overcome and accomplish things adds the icing on the cake. Think of wild life and how it has to fight to flourish and bloom into something beautiful.
The world around us has not gotten to the point it has by doing nothing at all. Mother Earth battles storms, volcanoes and other worldly disasters that she must fight to get through. At the end of the day it only builds a stronger foundation to stand on. In the end the struggle helps the true beauty shine through so that we may see something that we had never experienced before.
Question For The Day
What can you do to challenge yourself today? Are you able to break out of your safety net at times to challenge yourself?
With challenge comes to ability to really see into what you already posses. Gratitude shines through at the end of a strenuous task even through the thought of not having to exert all of your strength anymore! So many healthy characteristics begin to surface when we allow ourselves to become beat and battered for a time.
Challenge creates heart and with a heart you can take on anything you desire.

In education we call this “productive struggle.” It’s precisely the energy that fosters perseverance, critical thinking, creativity, and problem solving. Vital for learning, growing…living.
Tina,
I love the connection. In my opinion critical thinking has taken a background stance of of lately in our society. We need to be challenged to overcome life’s obstacles. It’s extremely important to growth and being able to take on the struggles we have to face throughout life.
