“The Ornithologist take’s her bird’s seriously when it comes to documenting the right patterns and observations. She had traveled all over the world for her joy in the small things, the wonders of the birds. Every continent has it’s collection of bizarre birds and their constant activities.
There’s the Indian Hornbill which will intentionally lock it’s mate and babies inside of the trunk of a tree to protect them while they grow. Constantly bringing back food for the female and chicks. Conscious that the outside world could potentially harm his offspring and the mother whom takes care of them.
The Red-Breasted Nuthatches are even more of a savage species. Not only can they walk headfirst down the trunk of a tree but they also spread a toxic resin around their nest. The reason being? The trap their predators and food within the resin for a source of food and protection.
The small things that these creatures do just to protect themselves and even survive. The little things that make a monumental difference in the extinction or continuance of the bird itself.
These are only a few stories she could tell you, while sitting in awe at the weird yet fascinating habits of the bird population. Still constantly learning something new and enjoying each day that passes through with just a little more knowledge on the bird’s. Content with her pen and paper ready to write any odd occurrence she would be blessed to see.”
Joy In The Small Things
Not everything has got to be a huge movement or even a goal out of this world. On a daily basis we all make small accomplishments or conquer a previous challenge. When you do something that is considered to be positive, celebrate. Take the time out of your day and smell the coffee. Appreciate the view out of your front door even if there is another door across the street. Joy can be found within each moment of the day as long as the silver lining be searched for.
We create our own joy out of what we have and yet somehow some fail to see it. Happiness and success are obtained by the beholder when they realize, anything can be considered happiness and success. The movement of waking up on time without an alarm is a task that should be congratulated. You didn’t burn your toast this morning because you got it out of the toaster soon enough. HURRAY!
I know it sounds simple and tedious to think of life this way at times but without the conscious decision to see the weird yet fascinating things of life, what is there to live for? The things that interest you should be used to see all angles of perception. It’s like throwing a basketball and making it the first try. It’s exciting! To see your favorite sports team get a goal but lose the match. You were still cheering when the goal was made!
Question For The Day
What are some things that you do everyday that you can find joy in? What is involved in your life that you may take for granted at times?
Listen, we are all ungrateful from time to time. That’s just the reality of it. But I present to you today to think outside of the box for even just a moment. Go on the back porch and value the simple sounds of wild life. The simplicity of the sun arising each and every day without a request. How the morning mist bring out proof that you are still breathing in the form of exhaled breathe condensate. Or even the sight of the ants bringing about life to the garden which they may help or even destroy! Yet how beautiful they are as a species. Able to work together to create massive cities in the eye’s of an ant.
Pay attention to the small things in life and you will begin to see what there is to be happy for. Joy is found in all things with a little attention paid.
