Today’s Story
“The martial art’s student approaches the mat, afraid and unable to understand if he is good enough. Watching the move’s of his fellow brother’s breaking out into sparring sessions. Observing the move’s each and every one of them makes with the occasional ability to call out a move. What is knowledge when you’re facing a black belt who has the wisdom to use it.
Palms sweaty, mind is racing and he steps onto the match, being the next to spar. Eye to eye with his current opponent since it is his turn to spar. Not only does he think he knows what must be done next, he is sure of it.
Practical moves make sense until he realizes that his partner is three moves ahead of him. He goes for an arm that is not there, yet knows what to do with the arm if he is able to grab it. The leg he was reaching for some how disappeared. As his last struggle for hope he reaches for the neck with realization that his challenger is upon his back already with the swift movement of a choke hold.
TAP! TAP!
Defeat was inevitable, he is a white belt you see – His teacher? A three stripe black belt. The result was obvious yet somehow the knowledge had gotten in the way of ego. He was sure he knew what to do next.
“You did well my student, I could tell you knew what you had wanted to do. Yet, I was already three moves ahead of you. Slow down, breathe and apply what you know to what is already going on. Stay in the moment and you will get better. You made it to class today, I am proud of you.”

What Is Knowledge?
Hear me out, we can study a subject and never apply it to the real world. There can be a sense of expertise because we have done our homework and think that we know what to do with it. The reality of it is, knowledge is only the practical application of what is being taught. Can you really use it in the proper manner? Yes, knowledge is an important process and part of the whole picture but application is the compliment.
Learn everything you can and then do your best to apply it. Understanding comes with time and time is in for the long haul. Patience is key to survival and the constant tender to the mind is vital. Knowledge is just the start of truly understanding. One thing I learned a long time ago was that once you start to learn about something you realize you know nothing at all. Once you start to discover truth’s there is more to the story than you had previously thought.
Keep your head out of the clouds and approach all things from an unbiased point of view. Be willing to comprehend another’s vision and you will realize that you can learn even more. Be a student to this path we call life on the adventure with the same ending for all. See each day from a new light and the fountain of knowledge is never ending.
Knowledge is a book with infinite pages. As long as you keep writing your story there is no end.
Question For The Day
What could you potentially gain more knowledge with and what do you already know? How do you apply your knowledge to life?
There’s always going to be a certain amount that we already know. Knowledge comes in the form of many things such as physical movement, ability to process information or even the retention of information. My question here proposes, how do you use it? With already knowing something can you learn more about it?
See, as a student of philosophy there is never an ending to what we can know about any path of life. It’s a constant motion where more information is added at any given moment. It’s a never ending spring that is overflowing waiting to be tapped into. Applying what we already know to the current situations in life we can even dive deeper into said subject or matter then come out on the other end knowing even more! That’s the beauty of it.
I challenge you today, to challenge yourself. Think of something you already know and reflect upon what you do not know about it yet.
