Thanksgiving is a time for expressing thanks and counting our blessings. Studies indicate that expressing gratitude leads to happiness, so being grateful can help make the world a happier place. Even if our lives are not perfect, we should all find something to be grateful for, no matter how big or small. And while we may not always have control over what happens to us, but we do have control over our attitude and how we respond to situations. So let’s have an attitude of gratitude not just this week, but year-round.

It matters not how strait the gate.

How charged with the punishment the scroll.

I am the master of my fate:

I am the captain of my soul.

~ William Ernest Henley

We can be the masters of our fate and the captains of our souls. I challenge you to find something to express gratitude for this week. It may be as simple as the air you breathe, the sun on your face, or waking up each day. But find something, as expressing gratitude can do wonders for your soul. I believe attitudes matter, and a positive attitude matters positively.I try to begin each day with writing in my gratitude journal and today, I am grateful for you.

Cheers!

Cynthia

  • I’ve had a gratitude partner for about three years. We email three things for which we’re grateful each day. If we miss a day, we write six things the next day. We met at a conference and she lives in another state. We were paired up by a leader who spoke on gratitude and offered to connect people who wanted to try this. We only see each other once a year at that conference, but we’ve become good friends through our daily contact.

On this Thanksgiving eve, I am reblogging a post I wrote for Tangible Triumph. My gratitude journal is entitled “Attitude of Gratitude” and has this quote I wrote on the inside cover: “Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.” Melody Beattie
I hope you all enjoy your Thanksgiving Day (tomorrow) with friends and family, being thankful and grateful for what you have!
